The official kick off of Pinktober 2010 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood CA was a huge success! We arrived early to start checking in the 400 M.E.I.N. members and guests who attended. We hooked up with Kel & Camille from the Eco-Friendly Street Team who volunteered to be our roving reporters and photographers for the day. It was soooo hot that day. No really....it was nasty HOT! We sweated our way through registration and tried not to look as wilted as we were. It was so amazing meeting so many members and breast cancer survivors!

Melissa & show opener Crystal Bowersox walked the Pink Carpet and did some brief interviews with the media. The place was packed and everyone was enthusiastic when Crystal took the stage to open the show. Next up was Melissa who performed with her band Kristopher, Peter, Dan & Blair. The set list included "Fearless Love," "Company," "Come To My Window" (Crystal joined Melissa), "I Run For Life" (with Crystal), "Bring Me Some Water," and "Like The Way I Do."
Check out these cool videos put together by the Street Team. Thanks to survivors Robin and Jo and their guests for taking the time to share their stories with us.
Some comments from attendees:
ikeepwatchingyou (from forum): It was an incredible event! I had a blast hanging out with all the different fans I got to meet. So much fun! Thank you to all of the girls I was chilling with throughout the day and event. We got very hot and sweaty together, but we also got our groove on. Melissa always gives us a reason to sweat. The show rocked! Thanks again to all of you who made this a really fun experience.
passionate_soul (from forum): We had so much fun -dancin' and singin' and sweatin' together!!!! The show was great! Crystal did a super job and was excited to be performing with one of her favorite musical influences - and that was cool to see. Melissa looked beautiful and was incredible as usual!
Pamela B: I want to say thank you very much for the wonderful event! Everything was done first class and Melissa and the band were sooo strong and powerful!!!! There was so much energy and love happening by the greatness that Melissa has brought into all our lives.
Dale & Becky: I want to thank you for the most memorable Melissa Etheridge concert my wife and I have ever been to!! Melissa and her band have never been more solid than Tuesday night! The added bonus of Crystal Bowersox was awesome! Crystal was amazing and we’re quite sure will have a very successful career, especially with Melissa as a mentor. I am a career firefighter in suburban Chicago. For the last two years, the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation does a 3-day walkin the Chicago area. The on-duty firefighters attend a segment of the route and we wear pink t-shirts with our fire department emblem on the front of the shirt. This year all of our members wore their shirts for a week, each day they were on duty. It creates such a positive vibe in our community… each encounter we have on ambulance and fire calls as well as when we arrive at the hospitals for where we transported our patients/Emergency room staff are very impressed by our department’s support of this very worthwhile event.
Paul W: Just wanted to say 'thank you' so much for the invite. I took my girlfriend - we are HUGE Melissa fans and we had a FANTASTIC evening! The entire process was done so well - the hospitality at the Hard Rock, the friendliness of the people in attendance and then of course the show!
Please pass along to everyone what a fantastic, emotional evening it was. I lost my mother to breast cancer 2.5 years ago and with Melissa being a survivor, this was a great way to bring awareness and raise money to find a cure.

We would like to thank everyone who attended (and those who were there in spirit) for an awesome day. This was a wonderful way to shine a light on breast cancer awareness. Let's keep it up through October (breast cancer awareness month) and beyond!
